1-Super jealous you are going to Geneva! I went when I studied abroad and I loved it! I went skiing in a little town about 1.5 hours on the BVB called Gryon and stayed in a wonderful hostel there. Worth the trip.
ReplyDelete2-I promise I am actually going to answer your question, I studied in Madrid and LOVED IT. Go to Barcelona for the best seafood, Rome for the best pub crawl and world history, and of course Madrid for the super night life, the shopping, the wine, the tapas. Enjoy and I wish I could come w/you!
Nice blogspot....could have some more flare.....
ReplyDeleteGET EXCITED!
I'm so excited for your travel adventures to begin! I know you already backpacked through Europe, but I don't remember if you went to Paris or not...if you did not, you must! It's the best city ever, but I'm a little biased. If you want to go somewhere else in France, go to Cassis, because it's the most beautiful place in the whole world. I've never seen water so blue, and it's not a super-touristy place, either. Look at my Facebook albums for pictures.
ReplyDeleteFinally, in case you're interested in other continents, RyanAir has super-cheap flights to places like Morocco, which of course I reccommend visiting! :)
Vianden in Luxembourg is famous for its restorated castle. The place has got great views over the valley.
ReplyDeleteEdinburgh I can also highly recommend. A lot of history, great ghost-tours and you can also take a day tour to one of the many Lochs. Besides this; the Scots have a great accent. A lot smaller than London so easy to navigate in.
Pamplona in Spain is most famous for San Fermin (annual bull-running). I think this was already held in June, but the city is still a feast for they eyes. The basque country is another part of Spain not many people see. There is also a Gugenheim museum in Bilboa.
And of course the Netherlands & Belgium...Amsterdam..Den Haag..Brugge..Maastricht..Brussel..
Fak!
ReplyDeleteSo my recommendations ---
1) Cinque Terre in Italy - not terribly far from Switzerland and beautiful ocean views. Getting pesto in the fourth village (Vernazza) at one of the restaurants by the harbor = spectacular.
2) Get into the Balkans. They're underappreciated and have a lot to offer - plus they are CHEAP! Everything in Kosovo/Montenegro/Macedonia is half price of Western Europe.
3) Go, go, go. Take advantage of all 10.54 million seconds you'll have in Europe. It sounds like a lot, but they'll fly by.
I'll miss you and you better visit our house when you get back!
